The Origin
Kevin Dowd, Zeppelin Coffee's passionate founder and third-generation bakery owner, traces his beginnings in the food industry to The Original Kolache Shoppe in Houston Texas. Growing up immersed in this historic family business was where Kevin developed an appreciation for quality creations that bring joy to people - from rolling kolaches and baking pies with his mom and brother, to eventually roasting coffee under the same roof.
Zeppelin Coffee is the culmination of a passion for top-quality, artisanal crafted coffee and tea. Founded in 2011 by Kevin and his team this small batch coffee roastery embraces its commitment to deliver delicious blends and single origin coffees with respect for the environment at its core.
Roasters Journey
As with any great challenge, success didn’t come overnight. Kevin and his team sought to craft specialty coffees that were as good as the legendary pastries the family bakery had been making since 1956. One of the secret ingredients to every success is passion for what you do, and there was no short supply of that. Having the opportunity to work directly with many amazing coffee farmers from around the world was a key factor in our foundation. Learning from the incredible people who nurture and grow the coffee plants, provided a better understanding of all the factors that go into the coffees we roast. The way the coffee is grown, picked, and processed plays a vital role in helping us develop each unique roast profile. As artisan coffee roasters it is our responsibility to tell the unique story of each coffee we showcase. We do this by meticulously highlighting its best qualities in our roasting process.
Over the years, we have grown from a micro coffee roastery in the kitchen of the family bakery, to a full-service artisanal coffee provider. In 2018, we launched our business-to-business program. Today Zeppelin Coffee can be found in a wide variety of locations in the Houston area.
